Following one year as a student pilot (1963-64) at Vance AFB, Mike went to T-37 IP school and was at Laredo AFB during 1965-1966. After going to T-38 IP school, he volunteered to help start the German Air Force Pilot Training Program at Sheppard AFB. There, he was a Wing Operations Officer and T-37 instructor from 1966 to 1970. After resigning from the Air Force in March 1970, Michael worked briefly at Polaroid Corp. before going to graduate school in September 1970.  He began his Wall Street career in 1972 as an aerospace analyst at H.C. Wainwright, where he also followed railroads and conglomerates.  He followed aerospace and railroads at Salomon Brothers during 1978-79 and then became Research Director of a small research boutique (Woolcott Research - 1979-86).  When he rejoined Salomon Brothers in 1986, he continued to follow railroads and supervised one analyst on trucking stocks and two analysts doing Special Situations - including shipping (1986-92). While at NatWest Securities from 1992 to 1995, he and an associate followed rails, shipping, trucks and special situations. When he joined Merrill Lynch in 1995, he maintained his coverage of rails and mentored one associate`s restoration of coverage on truckers and airfreight. Michael H. Lloyd joined Deutsche Bank Securities Inc. in June 2000, as a  Director and senior analyst covering the Transportation sector. In August 2002, he became an active independent consultant and retired in late 2003, when he and his wife (Dottie) built a home in a golf community in Naples FL. They live there from October through May and spend summers in Southold, NY (Long Island`s wine country).

 

From his first marriage to Sherry (divorced and now deceased), he has a daughter and three grandchildren in Pasadena CA and a son in Santa Barbara CA. Mike and Dottie have three adult children; two sons and one daughter, who live on the East Coast.

 

Michael has an MBA from Harvard Business School (1972) and has a BS in Engineering Sciences from the USAF Academy (1963).

 

Mike  is a retired Chartered Financial Analyst.

LLOYD--Michael Healy. Michael Healy Lloyd, age 80, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2021 in Naples, FL. He was born July 1, 1941 in Brooklyn, NY to Robert and Kathleen Lloyd. After graduating from Brooklyn Tech in 1959 he received an appointment to the Air Force Academy where he graduated in 1963 with a degree in Engineering Sciences. Following graduation, he completed flight school at Vance AFB in Oklahoma in 1964 and was certified to fly T-37s and T-38s. He continued as a flight instructor at Laredo AFB and Sheppard AFB. 

Following his discharge from the Air Force in 1970, he worked briefly as an engineer at Kodak in Massachusetts until he elected to continue his studies at Harvard Business School. He graduated with an MBA in 1972, beginning what was to be a 30 year career on Wall Street as a Research Analyst. As a Chartered Financial Analyst ("CFA"), his professional experience included successful stints at Salomon Brothers, HC Wainright & Co, Woolcott Research Associates, Merrill Lynch, Deutsche Bank and NatWest Securities. During his career, he received several accolades in Institutional Investors` AllStar survey as well as the Wall Street Journal`s Analyst Rankings. 

Mike is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Dorothy Sande Lloyd; daughter Catherine M. Lloyd; son Robert F. Lloyd and wife, Jennifer; son Michael C. Lloyd; son Gregory J. Lloyd and wife Justyna; daughter Alexandra and husband Scott Gehnrich; loving brothers Thomas Kent Lloyd and Father Robert Lloyd MM; beloved sister Ellen Marie Gallagher (deceased 1999); and nine grandchildren Matthew, Alex, Katy, Henry, Olivia, Amelia, Charlie, Owen and Maya. 

Memorial services will be held at a later date at both the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs and in Naples, FL. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to either the Air Force Academy Foundation (USAFA.org to "give now") or St. Jude Children`s Research Hospital (stjude.org/donate) in his honor.
