USAFA Class Heritage

After UPT at Moody, I was assigned to Hunter AFB in the beautiful old city of Savannah, GA where I checked out in the C-124.  From there I flew missions around US and to Canada, Azores, Europe, Turkey, Libya, Greenland, Bermuda and Bahamas and served a three month TDY at Rhein-Main AB in Frankfurt airlifting stuff around Europe. 

In 1966, I was assigned to Hickam AFB in Hawaii, from where I flew missions to Midway, Wake, Johnson Is., Kwajalein, Guam, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Philippines, Viet Nam, Thailand, Samoa, New Zealand and Australia.  I also served a three month TDY at Bien Hoa AB, VN and another three month TDY at Rhein-Main.

My time in MAC was the highlight of my ten years in the military-industrial complex.   I served with a lot of good people in desirable locations and traveled to many areas of the world.  If you could take low and slow, the C-124 was a great assignment, landing in a lot of interesting places that more advanced aircraft bypassed.  Moreover, MAC was a down-to-earth, competently run operation that was free of the usual hype and BS.

In 1969, I resigned from the Air Force to attend law school at the University of California, Berkeley.  Early in my career, I did a lot of civil litigation. Subsequently, I was mainly involved in oil and gas exploration and production and related administrative litigation.  I enjoyed the independence and freedom of action afforded by my legal career, particularly when I was the General Counsel of a multi-state exploration company.
