Barry Wetherington (he did not like being called “Clyde”) grew up with his four siblings on the beaches of Florida. A fair haired lad looking for excitement, Barry found the transition to a disciplined cadet life challenging and requiring a lot of sleep and recreational opportunities. His desire to become a pilot was realized but not in fighter aircraft as he had hoped – multi engine prop transports were his destiny worldwide including Vietnam. After 7 years he left the Air Force and became a very successful and well regarded lawyer throughout the Midwest. He and his ex wife raised four boys and befriended a handful of grandchildren as well. In his later years Barry suffered from dementia and Alzheimer’s disease and lived in a care facility in Michigan until his death in 2016.
